Eddie Doyle, Senior Liquor Dispersement Engineer

Sam Adams may be Boston’s best known brew master, but local Boston personality Eddie Doyle is the city’s best known bar master. For the past thirty years, in the midst of serving up Martini’s and drafts, Mr. Doyle has carved a name for himself in the Boston landscape as an active philanthropist and perhaps the country’s best known bartender.

When Hollywood was scoping Boston for the perfect "Cheers," the directors came face-to-face with Eddie Doyle, a grinning bartender who embodied the phrase, "sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name." An avid fan of all Boston sports teams and quick witted, Eddie soon became famous with Bostonians and Cheers fans alike.

Born and currently living in Westwood, Massachusetts, Eddie began a career in art and graphic design. He’d been creating all of the artwork for the Hampshire House menus and promotional materials when owner Tom Kershaw expressed a need for a bartender for his new restaurant, the Bull & Finch Pub. Eddie accepted his position and has since helped create and raise millions of dollars for charities including Cheers for Children and the Cheers for Kids Lunch Bunch Club. Due to the Pub’s huge success, Eddie has become as much a tourist attraction as the "Norm" and "Sam" cut-outs in the Hampshire House lobby.

Mr. Doyle is an excellent example of one who utilizes his fame to help and give joy to others. This is why on September 12, 1999, Mayor Thomas M. Menino declared it "Eddie Doyle Day" to honor Mr. Doyle’s 25th Anniversary with the Bull & Finch Pub.
